Sundin endorsed by Rotosound strings - October 21, 2011
Niklas Sundin is now exclusively using Rotosound strings (more specifically the RH10 Roto Blues set).
Being in the process of rethinking and updating my guitar setup, I set out on a scientific journey to find the optimal strings for my playing style. After having evaluated pretty much every available brand out there, I came to the conclusion that Rotosound stood head and shoulders above the competition. Needless to say, I'm very happy to be an official endorsee of the string manufacturer chosen by luminaries as diverse as Jimi Hendrix, Napalm death and Massive attack.

Zero distance premiere + WATV tour edition! - September 22, 2011
The Swedish kings of Melodic Death Metal DARK TRANQUILLITY proudly present you the brand-new video clip for the song “Zero Distance” taken from the upcoming tour edition of “We Are The Void”, which will be released in Europe on October 24th, 2011 right in time for the start of the massive Neckbreaker’s Ball headlining tour!
As DARK TRANQUILLITY’s “We Are The Void” album was awarded “Album Of The Month” in Metal Hammer Germany back in 2010, the band teamed up with the mag to present you the exclusive premiere of the stunning “Zero Distance” video clip, which is the first official music video from Aduro Labs (www.adurolabs.se), a new film/production enterprise founded by DT’s own Niklas Sundin, video photographer Peter Herneheim and post production editor Love Andersson. The aim of Aduro Labs is to produce creative, original and aesthetically challenging video/animation work in a diverse range of styles. Further projects will be announced in the near future.
“Zero Distance” is of course only one of the rarities included in the “We Are The Void (Tour Edition)”:
“Zero Distance" was recorded at the same time as the "We Are The Void" album, but due to its different nature we decided to keep it for later use. The time is now right to unveil the song, as well as the other rare/bonus material recorded at the same time, in a massive "We Are The Void" tour edition package. In addition to the added songs and liner notes by Mikael, there's also a live DVD capturing some special moments during the 150-and-counting gigs in support of the album.”

Shows in Russia and Ukraine confirmed - September 14, 2011
The official promo clip for "Iridum" from our latest album "We are the void" is now released. The video was directed by guitarist Niklas Sundin, who states the following:
"Iridium is a weird and wonderful song with a long history (concieved already in 1998 but not appearing on a D.T. album until now), so I wanted to create a video that would do it justice. The result is a hand-drawn and animated affair which ties in with the song's generally apocalyptic vibe while at the same time being aesthetically different from our previous videos. I hope you all enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it."

"We are the void" nominated for Manifest award - Jan 17, 2011
Two years ago, "Fiction" won the prestigeous Manifest award for the best hard rock/metal album of the year. It's time to repeat the procedure, with "We are the void" being nominated in the same category.
By popular demand, here is one of the video projections used on the last tours.

House of metal festival confirmed - Dec 4, 2010
The live activities for 2011 are already shaping up, and we can now confirm another festival. On March 4, we'll head to the northernmost city of Umeå, Sweden to perform at the House of Metal festival.
What a ride! After having spent most of the year touring other continents and laying to waste innumerable summer festivals, we finally brought the "We are the void" experience to the European club circuit.
The whole "Where death is most alive part II" experience was amazing, and the seven weeks were filled with great shows and unforgettable moments. The idea of having a different local support band - determined by public vote - every night in mainland Europe turned out to be successful as well; we got to hear a lot of great acts and even got some tattoos courtsey of JP Mottin of El Comer Ocho.
So we'd like to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone that took part in the shows - the awesome support acts of Insomnium, Avatar, Marionette and Omnium Gatherum, the beloved crew of Basti, Jorge, Jukka, Anders, Matti, Mikko and Jörg, all local support bands and of course all the fans that came out to the shows to give us the time of our lives.
We've gotten some questions regarding the setlist. We shifted things around a bit to keep some variation for ourselves and for the numerous people that attended several of the shows, but these are the tracks that at some point were played.
At the point of ignition
The fatalist
Damage done
Lost to apathy
Monochromatic stains
The gallery
The wonders at your feet
Iridium
One thought
Zodijackyl light
Shadow in our blood
Focus shift
Icipher
Dream oblivion
Misery's crown
Haven
Punish my heaven
Final resistance
The sun fired blanks
ThereIn
Terminus (where death is most alive)
After the busiest year ever in our 21 year old existence, we're now having some rest before hitting the 70 000 tons of metal cruise in January. To conclude, here is a clip of "Misery's crown" from the tour finale in Gothenburg (which was given a triumphant 5/5 rating in our biggest newspaper Göteborgs-Posten).
D.T. confirmed for 70000 tons of metal cruise - Oct 14, 2010

Just like Daniel Antonsson, Niklas Sundin are now playing Mayones instruments exclusively. Click here to watch his artist profile or read the statement below.
I've been using my Mayones Setius and Regius guitars on our current "Where death is most alive part II" tour and am extremely impressed! The instruments sound and look phenomenal, with a craftsmanship and attention to detail that's truly outstanding. The playability and general feel is amazing and I'm looking forward to having these axes as part of my live arsenal for many years to come.
For more info on Mayones guitars and basses, visit their homepage.

Porto venue change - Aug 24, 2010
Attention Portugal! The Porto show on October 3 is now moved to the Hard Club. See you there!
And the winners are... - Aug 17, 2010
The final voting round for the local support contest for the upcoming DARK TRANQUILLITY "WHERE DEATH IS MOST ALIVE TOUR 2010" came to an end. Close to 600 bands from all over Europe submitted to the contest and Century Media picked the 158 best to take part of the voting. Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R Century Media Records Europe:
"I know it's a cliché that a record label A&R will never listen to any demo bands are sending in. But me and my college Dario Dumancic listened to ALL 600 bands!!! Why we picked only 158? Because not every band seemed to be ready to play in front of Dark Tranquillity's fans because these fans bought a ticket for the shows and deserve a certain quality. And most other bands were too far away from playing anything to close to Death Metal. Where Death Is Most Alive? Everywhere! It was great to see again how vivid our scene is and what a great amount of great bands is out there from far north Iceland to the southern shores of Spain – just everywhere. Unfortunately only one band per show could win, but we want to thank all bands for taking part and we want to wish all of them good luck for the future – you deserve it! And we want to thank the close to 50.000 metalheads who took the time, listened to the bands and voted for them! We know that there has been some criticism about the technical side of the voting process and that some bands might plaid unfair to generate more votes. We promise to come up with a more fair and saver online voting system next time. But we hope you will enjoy your favourite bands on the tour with Dark Tranquillity and Insomnium. Horns Up!"
Dark tranquillity guitarist announces public art exhibition in Sibiu, Transylvania - Aug 3, 2010
In association with Dark tranquillity's appearance at the ARTmania festival, guitarist Niklas Sundin will showcase a new collection of artwork at the Bohemian flow club in Sibiu, Transylvania. Entitled “Ichtys”, the exhibition opens on August 14 and will be on display for a month.
Says Sundin:
“Needless to say, I’m really excited about this. There have been previous requests from people wanting to feature my artwork in public exhibitions, but I’ve always had mixed feelings. It wouldn’t be too interesting to just display the album artwork that I’m primary recognized for, so I’ve wanted to wait until I had something that would be completely free of any connotations to commissioned music industry work and at the same time have a certain red thread, conceptually and aesthetically.
The “Ichtys” images are mainly derived from pencil drawings that are scanned, treated and assembled into collages, and the result is part medieval woodcut, part religious iconography and part nautical cartoon profanity. Influences range from Dürer and Bosch to David B and Joakim Pirinen, and there’s obviously a major resemblance to my own “Gadus morhua” books. The city of Sisiu seems to be an appropriate setting for this kind of amalgam of old and new, so I was very pleased when the ARTmania people suggested that I’d exhibit something.”
European tour: full line-up confirmed - Aug 3, 2010
That's right! Gothenburgers Marionette just confirmed that they'll open up the Swedish leg of the tour, so we're happy to announce that the full line-up for the trip is completed.
