Next week, we’ll embark to the familiar quarters of Studio Fredman to begin the recording of our seventh, as-yet-untitled, full length album. We’re been working extremely hard with the material and feel that the result will be a diverse and exciting offering that will leave most of our current fans more than satisfied. Of course, this is what all bands say, so you’ll have to wait a couple of months until you’re able to hear for yourselves. No release date is set yet, but it’s realistic to assume that the CD will be out either shortly before or shortly after the summer.

As mentioned, no album title has been decided yet, but some tentative song titles are “One thought” (previewed on our recent Italian tour), “Lost to apathy” and "Mind matters".

Some good news for those of you having problems getting hold of our earlier releases:

Both "The gallery" (1995) and "The mind's I" (1997) will be re-released in special remastered deluxe editions, featuring brand new booklet layouts as well as a massive dose of hard-to-find bonus material.

During the years, we've been all too aware of the lack of availability of our earlier material in the US, and we've heard from a lot of people about how hard and frustrating it is to have to track down expensive import versions of the older albums in order to get the D.T. collections complete.

We got so much positive response from old and new fans when Century media licenced the "Skydancer" (1993) album for the US territory a couple of years ago, so it feels great to finally have "The gallery" and "The mind's I" enjoying proper stateside distribution as well.

The European versions of the deluxe editions will be released by Osmose productions. More details regarding the exact contents of the CD's and their release dates will be posted in the near future.

Time for some new-year activity on the site. As you probably have noticed, updates have been somewhat scarce recently, but rest assured that we're not resting on our laurels. The songwriting for the next album is commencing with full force, and in a not-too-distant future we'll begin recording our seventh full length album. More details regarding where, when and why will be posted here soon.

The DVD is now available in the US as well - finally! For a list of (worldwide) online vendors selling it, please visit Gtranquillity's site at www.dark-tranquillity.nl.

For an upcoming project, we'd like to hear from people with Dark tranquillity tattoos, so if you're one of the lucky few, please get in touch via hq@darktranquillity.com.

The mini tour in Italy about a month ago was a huge success, and we'd like to thank all of you that made it such a great experience. Photos from some of the shows will be uploaded in the near future.

Other than this, there are a few promising things, that doubtlessly will make many of you happy, in the pipeline, but before anything is 100% confirmed, we can't go public with any details.

Good news for all you vodka-drinking knifewielders in Finland. We're confirmed for the next installment of the Tuska festival, which will take place in Helsinki in the summer of 2004. More info will follow later on.

27 Nov - Treviso, New Age
28 Nov - Bergamo, Motion
29 Nov - Reggio Emilia

The European version of the DVD will be released in a couple of days. No news about the US release date yet, but we're happy to inform that the European version is region-free (code 0), so it will perform correctly on any DVD player.

In other words, non-Euro residents can safely pre-order the DVD or get it on import if they don't feel like waiting for the USA-pressed version.

Newsflash / 2003-09-02

Less than a month left to the DVD release, so it's preview time, right? A taster in the shape of "The treason wall" can now be downloaded from Century media's video section here. Enjoy!

More updates: the first version of the FAQ is now finally online. Thanks to Villain for supervision and quality feedback!

Michael Nicklasson's other band, LUCIFERION, will release their long-awaited 2nd album on Listenable records this September. Their debut CD, "Demonication", was released already in 1994 and is seen as a classic album among lovers of brutal and technical death metal in the old Morbid Angel/Deicide style.

We now have a confirmed European releaese date for the "Live damage" DVD. This long-awaited gem will be unleashed unto you all on September 29. Stay tuned for more info and an exclusive preview clip of the action.

Release dates for the rest of the world are uncertain right now, but we'll let you know as soon as something's decided.

On another note, we're getting heaps of e-mails regarding the DVD release and whether or not there is any release date set yet. Rest assured that as soon as we know something more specific, it'll be posted on this very page. There are still some production details that need to be completed, but everybody involved is doing their best to get the DVD out as soon as possible.

Three years ago at the festival we had one of the most memorable shows we´ve ever had and I for one can´t wait to get back and do it again. Hope to see you all there!

Some news on the "Live damage" DVD: We have now seen a beta copy of it and are pleased to inform that the final result has surpassed all expectations. Everything looks and sounds fantastic, and the people at Metal mind productions have done a truly excellent job with making the presentation as slick and professional as possible.

Apart from the full length show recorded in Krakow last October, the disc will also include extensive live bootleg footage, promotional video clips, interactive biography, an in-depth interview with Mikael and lots of other goodies. Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound? But of course!

As things look now, the DVD will be available before the end of June, though an exact release date is yet to be confirmed. More info, as well as an exclusive online preview clip of the live action, will follow shortly.

Finally, after some delays, we now accept orders for t-shirts again - have a look here. Slightly off-topic but still related: Niklas' illustration studio Cabin fever media has a new merchandise section online as well.

The official homepage of the Metal Mania festival is now online. Visit here.

Some new content has been added to the live photo and fan art area. Apologies to the people that have sent material that still hasn't been uploaded; things have been very busy here lately, and everything will be taken care of as soon as time permits.

No definite news on the DVD issue yet, but it seems likely that some additional live footage from the "Damage done" touring will be added to the already confirmed Krakow recording. The title will be changed to "Live damage" to reflect this.

Regarding touring, the information circulating on the WWW implying that D.T. will be part of the Halford tour package in the US isn't correct. At present, no new tours are confirmed.

Posted by Niklas / 2003-02-24

Yes, folks - we've now returned home from the US tour and would like to thank everyone that made it such a great experience; the participating bands, the crew and of course all of you that attended the shows.

Some brief news: The DVD thingie seems to be moving forward. There isn't any release date set just yet, but everything is being in the final stages of production and we should be able to give you more news on this in the near future.

We are extremely sorry to have to announce the frustrating fact that the upcoming gigs in Mexico and Colombia are cancelled, due to the inability of the local promotor to live up to his part of the agreement. At this point, we don't know all the details, but our management has been working day and night during the last week trying to get some kind of confirmation from the promotor that the most essential and basic parts of the arrangement, such as the booking of the airplane tickets, had been taken care of.

After a lot of uncertainty and an increasing sense of suspicion that the necessary organizational measures weren't taken, everything eventually seemed to be resolved, but last night - just a few hours before our planned departure from Gothenburg - we got the definite news from our management that the flight arrangements were severely insufficient and that the promotor had backed out of the deal, admitting that things hadn't been properly taken care of from the beginning and that it now was too late to repair the damage.

We deeply apologize to our Mexican and Colombian fans and friends, and we hope that you understand that the cancellation is in no way due to the band. This is a disaster for us. We had a fantastic time during our "Haven" dates in Mexico, and had the pleasure to meet some of the most devoted and enthusiastic fans we've ever seen, and it feels truly devastating to have to stay at home with packed bags and all preparations made because of matters that are out of our hands.

We'll do our outmost to be able to schedule new dates in the near future.

Respectfully,

D.T.

Newsflash / 2002-12-18

We are very sad to announce that the show scheduled for the 28:th of December in Moscow has been cancelled due to reasons beyond our control. We hope that matters can be resolved and that we can come to see our russian fans at a later date.

Having just returned from the european tour our days and nights are still messed up beyond belief, but these are the the things we deal with and love about it.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank all you people for coming out to the shows. We´ve truly had the time of our lives and it´s all thanks to you. To all the friends we met and all the new ones we´ve made this time round, a huge cheers! Big thanks also to Sinergy and Griffin without whom this would never had been the same.
See you all as soon as humanly possible!

As you can see, the U.S. tour with Nile, Napalm death, Strapping young lad and the The berzerker is now confirmed. In addition, we'll do the following South American dates:

Jan 10: Monterrey - City escena music hall
Jan 11: Mexico city - Salon 21
Jan 14: La farra del norte - Bogota, Colombia

Newsflash / 2002-12-11

The show in Moscow the 14th of December has been resceduled to the 28th. The reason for this is that there were other concerts in the area who might attract the same crowd. So see you at Goburnova the 28th instead!

We've just returned from two of our best gigs ever and would like to thank everyone involved; our promotor Harry, the guys in Candlemass & Entombed, our beloved caretakers/crew and of course the fantastic fans in Greece for their massive support. Due to manufacturing errors, we couldn't offer any t-shirts for sale at the gigs, but we'll make up for it next time.

Newsflash / 2002-10-03

The homepage has successfully been transfered to the new server. As many of you have pointed out, the site has been offline for a while due to reasons beyond our control (DNS related for those of you who really care).

Please note that emails sent to any of the band members between Sep 16 and Oct 2 may not have arrived safely, so please re-send if possible. Apologies for the inconvenience.

We're just about to set sail for our debut US tour and are looking forward to seeing you all on the shows. Some quick info:

A server change for this site will take place really soon (perhaps tomorrow, perhaps in 3-4 days). Most probably, everything will run smoothly and you won't notice a thing, but in case something happens and the site can't get accessed, you'll know why. Any eventual problems will be taken care of when we return from the tour.

Posted by Niklas / 2002-09-08

Things are happening on the live front, and we can now confirm a number of upcoming gigs.

On the 7th of October, we'll be playing in Warsaw, Poland, and the gig will be professionally recorded for possible release as a live DVD. A warm-up gig at another location in Poland will probably take place on the 5th. More info on this later.

Two gigs in Greece (w/ Candlemass and Entombed) are booked as well:

19/10: Thessaloniki - club Hydrogios
20/10: Athens - club Gagarin 205

And finally, a gig at Contan, Örebro, Sweden is confirmed for the 2nd of November.

Newsflash / 2002-09-07

An interview with Mikael Stanne was featured on the P3 Rock radio channel last thursday. For a few days, it's still possible to listen to the show via Real Player. The same station (which is the biggest in Sweden) also aired an interview on the Musikjournalen show, which of course is available online as well. Furthermore, check out Musiklandet for another Swedish-tounged feature.

Video praise: The Greek Metal hammer TV show recently selected the "Monochromatic stains" clip as the best video of the year and played it on their last show of the season. Way to go, Achilleas!

Posted by Niklas / 2002-08-09

Good news - we're making our first chart appearances. "Damage done" entered #1 in the Swedish metal charts and #29 in the regular charts (a very rare feat for a band of our style). In Germany, things are taking off too. Here's Century media's statement:

Finally the hard-working Swedes have reached another milestone. Debuting at position 83 on the German Media Control Charts (the top 100 sales charts for all of Germany) means another highlight in the already-great career of the band. (...). It's not often a band works so deliberately and persistantly to create the perfect sound. This success is well-earned, our hats go off to the band and to the fans who support them!

Massive thanks to all you people who have forked out your hard-earned cash for our album!

Newsflash / 2002-07-24

IMPORTANT!!!

As some of you have noticed, some copies of the new album feature the added annoyance of track 1 and 11 ending a couple of seconds too early. We (and Century media too, for that matter) are as frustrated and annoyed by this as those of you who've been unfortunate enough to buy one of the faulty copies.

Century media offer to replace damaged albums - more info in their official statement below:

Regretfully we discovered and must announce that a number of the new Dark Tranquillity CD, "Damage Done", were discovered to be contain a minor defect on the audio portion of the discs. If you happened to receive a defective disc, please send an e-mail to the following address: service@centurymedia.de
You will get a return mail containing further details.

If, however, you are not able to play the CD-ROM portion of the album (the video track for "Monochromatic Stains"), this does not mean you have a defective CD. All the samples we checked had fully-functioning video enhancements, but the problem is most likely either incompatible system requirements, or (most often) that you need to install or update your version of Quicktime media player to version 5.0 or higher. To download Quicktime or upgrade your old version, visit this link:
